Alternatives to H&M for Jewellery: What to Check
This guide walks you through simple, actionable checks for jewellery and accessories before you buy online.
Check material details first
When you land on any product page, look first for the full composition list. Where the maker gives it, the product page shows exactly what each piece is made from. For jewellery, this means noting if it is plated, solid metal, resin or glass. For scarves, bags or belts, note the fabric weight and finish. You do not need to memorise material names. Just cross reference this against how long you intend to wear the piece. If you want something you can put on every day for two years, avoid thin plated finishes that will rub off with regular use. If you only need something for one occasion, light lower cost materials are fine. There is no right choice, only the right choice for how you will use it. Get the fit right before ordering
This is a common mistake people make when switching shops. Many people know their size from H&M, and assume it will match everywhere else. It will not. Every brand cuts pieces differently. This is especially true for bracelets, necklaces, belts and bag strap lengths. Do not guess. Take one piece you already own that fits well, lay it flat and measure it. Compare that number to the measurements listed on the product page. For rings, measure the inside diameter of a ring that fits you, not the circumference of your finger. Small differences of just one millimetre will make a piece unwearable. Use our Size guide if you are not sure how to measure correctly. On WowStore you can also try most jewellery pieces on your avatar on product pages, to see scale and how it sits.
Calculate price per wear
People usually only look at the ticket price when comparing options. That is only half the picture. The actual cost of any piece is the price you pay divided by the number of times you will wear it. This is simple example maths. A €12 necklace worn 3 times costs €4 per wear. A €48 necklace worn 80 times costs 60 cent per wear. Over time, the second one is much better value. You do not have to always pick the lowest per wear cost. Sometimes you want something just for one event. But always run this sum before you checkout. It will stop you buying things that sit unused in a drawer. You can test different combinations and plan wear frequency in the Mix & Match Studio.
Read care instructions early
Every piece will wear out eventually. How long it lasts depends almost entirely on how you look after it. Before you add anything to your basket, check the care notes. Some metal jewellery should not be worn in the shower. Some fabric bags can only be wiped clean, not washed. Some belts will crack if folded away tight. None of these are bad things. But they are things you need to know before you buy. There is no point buying a piece if you will not follow the care it requires. Many well good items are thrown away not because they were badly made, but because the owner did not know how to look after them. You can find general guidance for all common materials in our Fabric care guide.
Check ordering rules first
Every online shop has different rules. Do not wait until after you have paid to find these out. Before you place any order, read the full policy for delivery and returns. Note what costs apply, what condition items need to be returned in, and the window you have to send things back. This is standard practice when buying online anywhere in the EU. Always order one new style at first when trying a new shop. Do not place a big order of 10 pieces until you have confirmed how sizing and finish works for you. Once you know how a shop fits, you can order with confidence. 5% of each sale goes to a cause you choose.
Plan around what you already own
The easiest way to buy well is to only get things that work with pieces you already wear. Many people own at least a dozen accessories they wear less than once a year. This almost always happens because the piece was bought on impulse, without checking if it matches existing outfits. Before you checkout, pause. Open your wardrobe. Think of three different tops, jackets or dresses you already own that you will wear this new piece with. If you cannot name three, do not buy it. You can upload items you already own to your Virtual Closet to test combinations before you buy. Lucy our AI stylist can also suggest pairings you may not have thought of.

How giving works when you shop with us
5% of each sale goes to a cause you choose. After your order you pick one of three causes: CARE International, Cool Earth or Project Zero. The donation is paid out through PayPal Giving Fund UK. Those three causes, together with how we run our own store (honest product data, fair prices), are matched to 11 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
That is the heart of the 1% Movement: small choices × millions of us = change. It is a giving promise we can show you, and it is the only promise we make on this page.
Questions people ask
Are these alternatives more expensive than H&M?
Some are, some are not. Ticket price alone does not tell you the full value. Always calculate cost per wear when comparing any two pieces. You can also filter pieces by price range on all collection pages.
Can I try jewellery on before buying online?
On WowStore you can try most jewellery pieces on your personal avatar on product pages. You can also see how pieces sit with clothes you already own saved in your Virtual Closet.
What if a product page does not show material details?
If full composition is not listed, you can send a message via the site contact form to request this information. You can always choose to not buy the piece if this information is not provided.
Do you sell everyday jewellery suitable for regular wear?
Yes. You can browse the full range of everyday and occasion pieces in the Jewellery & Accessories collection. Pieces are listed with care notes and measurements where provided.
