Wall-Mounted Wire Soap Basket, Antique Bronze Finish

A wall-mounted wire soap basket in an antique bronze finish

This wire soap basket screws to the wall next to your basin or in the shower. The basket is open wire, so water runs straight through and does not stand under the soap.

According to the supplier it is copper with an antique bronze finish. A round wall plate with an embossed pattern covers the mounting plate, so you see no screws from the front.

At a glance

The piece: basket, arm and rosette

The photos show three parts. The basket is a rectangle of bent wire with rounded corners and a flat band around the rim. A single arm with a turned knob carries it. The arm ends in a round wall plate, a rosette embossed with a petal pattern.

The style is classic, the kind of fitting you would expect in an older house or a hotel bathroom. We sell it without a brand, because the supplier data names no maker.

Who it's for

For you if you use a bar of soap and are tired of the puddle in a closed dish. It also suits anyone who is fitting out a bathroom in a classic style and wants the small things to match the taps.

You do need to drill. This holder is fixed with screws, so it is less suited to a rented bathroom where you may not make holes in the tiles.

Closer look: the details we can confirm

• Open wire basket that drains freely (supplier and photos)
• Round embossed wall plate (supplier and photos)
• Hidden mounting plate with screw holes behind the wall plate (supplier; holes from the back-view photo)
• Brushed gold-brown finish with darker shading in the embossed pattern (photos)
• No soap included; the yellow bar in the photo is a prop

Materials and build: copper, according to the supplier

The supplier lists the material as copper with an antique bronze finish. The catalogue we order from only says "metal". We have not tested the metal ourselves, so we pass on the supplier's statement as it stands.

"Antique bronze" describes the colour of the finish. In the photos it is a brushed gold-brown, darker where the pattern is embossed, which gives the rosette its depth.

Size and dimensions: what we know and what we don't

Here the supplier is thin on detail. The record gives only the packed size, 23 x 18 x 4 cm, and no measurements for the basket itself. The holder fits inside that box, so it cannot be larger than that in any direction.

In the photos a standard bar of soap lies in the basket with a little room around it. If you need the exact width or how far the basket stands off the wall, ask us before you order and we will ask the supplier.

Styling: warm metal on a pale wall

The gold-brown finish stands out most against a white or pale grey wall, as in the supplier's photos. It sits well with taps and towel hooks in a similar warm tone. Next to chrome it will look like a deliberate contrast, which can work, but decide that on purpose.

Occasions

Fit it when you redo a bathroom or a guest toilet. It is also a good moment when you switch from a pump bottle to a bar of soap and need somewhere to put it.

Care and mounting: your own screws, a soft cloth

The supplier record does not list screws or wall plugs, so have your own ready and choose them to suit your wall. The back-view photo shows the screw holes in the mounting plate.

There are no care instructions either. As general practice for a metal fitting with a coloured finish: rinse off soap residue, wipe it with a soft cloth, and avoid scouring pads and strong cleaners, which can wear the finish.

The wow detail: the rosette hides the screws

From the front you see a flower-like disc and nothing technical. The mounting plate and its screws sit behind it. It is a small thing, but it is what separates a fitting that looks finished from one that looks screwed on.
