These jogger sweatpants by Tessita are made of a sweat knit with 70% cotton and 30% polyester. They have an elastic waistband, a relaxed leg and elastic cuffs at the ankle. That is all there is to them, and it is enough.

The length is 99 cm in every size, and the range runs from XS to XXXL. You have nine colours to choose from, from black and grey to light blue, pink and a dark red.

Tessita sells these through a Polish fashion wholesaler, in the tracksuit bottoms category. The supplier describes them as jogger sweatpants in a classic loose fit, with an elastic waistband and elastic legs. Each colour has its own model number, and all nine share one size table.

A few colour notes from the photos. The green is a soft sage. The supplier's brown is a taupe, and our button says taupe. The blue and the pink are light pastel shades. The red is a dark wine red, not a bright one.

In the photos the model wears a matching hoodie or sweatshirt. Those tops are separate items.

Who it's for

For you if you want one pair of soft trousers for the sofa, the supermarket and the walk in between. The cuffs keep the legs off the ground and the waistband has no buttons to dig in.

It is also for you if finding your size is usually a problem. Seven sizes, from XS to XXXL, is a wide range for a jogger. Hips measure 92 cm in XS and 116 cm in XXXL.

The maker's text says nothing about pockets or a drawcord, and we can't make them out for certain in the photos. Ask us if pockets decide it for you.

Fabric and feel: 70% cotton sweat knit

The composition is 70% cotton and 30% polyester. The supplier calls the material breathable and soft. Cotton gives the knit its dry, familiar feel; the polyester helps it keep its shape at the knees.

In the photos the fabric looks like a medium sweat knit with a smooth outside. It drapes and doesn't stand stiff. The maker gives no weight and doesn't say whether the inside is brushed, so we can't tell you if this is a summer or a winter jogger. The grey is a melange; the other colours are solid.

Fit and silhouette: loose at the hip, closed at the ankle

The size table gives the hips as 92 cm in XS, 96 cm in S, 100 cm in M and so on in steps of four, up to 116 cm in XXXL. The waist runs from 54 cm in XS to 78 cm in XXXL. Those waist numbers are small, which suggests they were taken with the elastic relaxed. It stretches when you put the trousers on.

Choose by your hips. The length is the same 99 cm in every size, so a taller woman will see the cuff sit above the ankle, and on a shorter one the leg will stack a little above the cuff. Both look fine with joggers.

Styling: a set, or broken up

Every photo shows the joggers as a set, with a top in the same colour and chunky trainers. Head to toe in one colour looks more put together than you would expect from sweatpants.

You can also break it up. Wear the black pair with a white shirt and a long coat. Put the grey with a mid-blue shirt, or the beige with a cream knit. The pink and the light blue look fresh with a plain white T-shirt.

Occasions

Wear them at home, on a walk with the dog, on a long flight or for a slow Sunday. The supplier files them under sports pants, and they will do for a stretch class or a gentle workout.

For running or hard training you may want a technical fabric. This is a cotton-blend sweat knit, made for comfort first.

Care: follow the label

The maker's data has no care instructions, so follow the label sewn into the waistband.

For cotton sweat knits in general: wash inside out, and wash the dark red and the black apart from the white and the pastels the first few times.
