Description
Chunky sneakers that arrive looking lived in
These chunky sneakers have a thick platform sole of 3.5 cm, fat cream laces and an upper with a smudged, worn-look finish. The marks are part of the design. They are meant to look like a favourite pair from the first day.
The maker gives leather for the upper and the footbed. The colour we sell is beige: a cream shoe with beige stripes and a beige sole.

The piece: model 211307, and a note on the brand
The wholesaler lists these sneakers under the brand Step in style. The description that comes with them speaks of sneakers from the GOE brand. We show both names, because the data does not tell us which one is on the shoe.
The same description mentions an upper decorated with sequins. We do not see sequins in any of the photos, so do not count on them. What the photos do show is the worn-look finish, and that is what you should expect.
A pink-accent version appears in the gallery. It is no longer supplied.
Who they are for
For you if box-fresh white sneakers make you nervous. A pair that already looks scuffed takes the pressure off: the first puddle changes nothing.
The platform adds 3.5 cm without a heel, which many people find easier to walk on than a wedge. The look is bold. If you like your shoes quiet, these are not them.
Closer look: what the maker states and what the photos show
- Leather upper and leather footbed (maker's data)
- Platform height 3.5 cm, upper height 6.5 cm (maker's data)
- Chunky sole and thick lacing (maker's data)
- Layered panels with beige side stripes and a smudged worn-look finish (photos)
- Padded tongue and collar, pull loop at the heel (photos)
- Sculpted sole, partly translucent, with a deep tread (photos)
The supplier does not state the sole material or the lining.
Materials and build: leather, according to the maker
The data sheet gives leather for the upper and for the footbed. It has no composition table, so we pass that on as the maker states it and add nothing.
The upper is built from many overlapping panels, which is what gives a dad sneaker its bulk. The pair weighs 1000 grams according to the supplier, probably with the box. That is on the heavy side for sneakers, as you would expect with this much sole.
Size and dimensions: these run short
Look at the insole lengths before you pick a size: 23 cm for size 36, 23.5 cm for 37, 24 cm for 38, 24.5 cm for 39 and 25 cm for 40. That may be shorter than you are used to.
So measure your foot from heel to longest toe and choose the size whose insole is a little longer. If you are between sizes, go up. Stock at the supplier is low, and the size buttons show what can still be ordered.
Size chart (cm)
| Size | Insole length |
|---|---|
| 36 | 23 |
| 37 | 23.5 |
| 38 | 24 |
| 39 | 24.5 |
| 40 | 25 |
Source: the maker's size table. The insole lengths are short for the sizes (24 cm for a 38), so measure your foot and choose by centimetres.
Styling: let the shoes be the rough part
In the photos they are worn with pink jogging trousers that end above the ankle. A cropped or cuffed leg is the trick, so the whole shoe shows.
They also work as a contrast: under a slip skirt, a floaty midi dress or tailored trousers, where a neat shoe would be the expected choice. Cream socks that match the laces look better than bright white ones.
Occasions
The maker suggests everyday outfits. These are shoes for the city, for festivals, for travel days and long walks through an airport. They are fashion sneakers; the supplier makes no claim about sport, and neither do we.
Care: gentle, and leave the smudges
The maker's data has no care text. For leather uppers in general, a soft damp cloth is the safe way to remove fresh dirt, and the shoes should dry at room temperature.
Do not scrub. The worn-look marks are a finish on the surface, and hard brushing or cleaning products could take them off unevenly. The laces can be washed separately.
The wow detail: dirt by design
Darker colour sits in the creases, along the panel edges and over the toe, so that each shoe looks like it has a few summers behind it. It is a funny idea, paying for scuffs. Yet it works: the marks tie the cream upper to the beige sole, and they make a big shoe look softer.
