This three-piece cotton tracksuit set from LaBalancia is called Milano. You get a strappy top, a short jacket that closes with snaps and a pair of jogger trousers, all in the same fuchsia and all in 100% cotton.

It comes in one size. The jacket has a drawcord at the hem so you can pull it in, and the trousers have an elastic waistband. Worn together it looks like a jumpsuit from a distance, and you can take it apart whenever you like.

LaBalancia is a womenswear label we buy through a fashion wholesaler in Poland. The supplier describes Milano as a three-piece tracksuit set for daily styling and sports activities, with a t-shirt, a hoodie and pants.

Two of those words need a note. The t-shirt is a top with spaghetti straps and a round neckline. And the piece the supplier calls a hoodie has, in the supplier's own words, a collar and snap fasteners. In the photos it is a cropped jacket with a shirt collar and no hood, so we call it a jacket.

The gallery also shows the set in beige, coral orange and black. The supplier no longer lists those colours. Fuchsia is the one you can order.

Who it's for

For you if you want one outfit that is easy to put on and still looks like you made an effort. A matching set in a strong colour does that without any thinking in the morning.

You need to be comfortable with colour, because this fuchsia is loud. And you need to fit the one size: the maker gives a waist range of 66 to 90 cm and hips of 100 cm.

The gold-tone snaps are a colour description. The supplier does not say what they are made of.

Fabric and feel: cotton, all three pieces

The supplier states that every piece of the set is made of 100% cotton and says it stays comfortable when you wear it all day. The composition table says the same: cotton, 100%.

The supplier does not say whether it is a sweatshirt knit or a woven cotton, or how heavy it is. In the photos the fabric looks smooth and matte and drapes softly at the trouser leg. With no stretch fibre in the mix, the give comes from the cut, the elastic and the drawcords.

Fit and silhouette: one size, adjustable at two places

The maker's table has a single row. Length is given as 45/47/94 cm, chest as 70/98 cm, hips as 100 cm and waist as 66-90 cm. The table does not label the numbers per piece. The likely reading is top, jacket and trousers for the three lengths, and top and jacket for the two chest numbers, but that is our reading.

What the photos show is clearer. The jacket is cropped and ends at the waist, where the drawcord pulls it in. The trousers sit high, are roomy at the hip and narrow to a cuff at the ankle. If your waist is inside the 66 to 90 cm range, the set is made for you. Above 90 cm it will not fit as intended.

Styling: together, or one piece at a time

In the photos the fuchsia set is worn with a beige cap, a small round cross-body bag and trainers. The jacket is left open over the top, or closed and tied at the waist. Both work.

The pieces also earn their keep apart. Wear the jacket over a white T-shirt with jeans. Pair the trousers with a grey sweatshirt for a quiet day at home. The top is useful under a blazer in summer. Neutral colours next to this pink are the easy route: white, beige, grey or a washed blue.

Occasions

The supplier mentions daily styling and sports activities. We see it mostly as a day-off outfit: travelling, a walk, coffee in town, the school run, a lazy Sunday. It suits a long flight or train ride well, because you can take the jacket off and still have a matching look.

For real training we would be careful. Cotton holds moisture, and the supplier makes no claims about sport performance.

Care: follow the label

The maker's data we receive has no care instructions, so please go by the labels sewn into the three pieces.

With a colour this strong, it is sensible to wash the set on its own or with similar colours the first few times, and to wash the three pieces together so they keep the same shade. Close the snaps first.

The wow detail: the bow at the waist

The drawcord at the hem of the jacket is tied in a bow right where the jacket meets the trousers. It turns two separate pieces into one line, which is why the set looks like a jumpsuit in the photos. Loosen it and the jacket hangs straight, like a short shirt.
