The supplier names four features: wide lapels, sewn-in shoulder pads, a double-breasted button fastening and decorative creases at the waist. The photos add detail to that last point. The waist is gathered with elastic at the sides and across the back, and at the front pleats run down from the waistline.

The colour is listed as brown. In the photos it is a warm cognac shade with dark buttons.

Material and feel: faux leather with a lining

The outer material is 55% polyester and 45% polyurethane. That is faux leather: a woven polyester base with a polyurethane coating that gives it the smooth face. No animal hide is involved.

In the photos the surface has a soft sheen and creases gently at the elbows, as this kind of material does. The supplier calls it practical and easy to care for. The lining is there, the supplier says, for comfort on colder days, and the blazer is suggested for autumn, winter and spring.

Fit and sizes: two sizes, no measurement table

The blazer comes in S/M and L/XL. The maker's size table for this model lists column names for chest and sleeve length and leaves the numbers empty, so we can't give you centimetres.

Here is what the photos tell us. The shoulders are padded and sit a little wide. The waist is pulled in by elastic, which gives some room either way. The body is long enough to cover the hips, and the sleeves are long on the model. If you are between the two sizes, the elastic waist argues for the smaller one, unless you plan to wear a thick jumper underneath. Styling: with jeans, with trousers, or on its own

The supplier suggests elegant trousers or jeans. Both work. Dark straight jeans and ankle boots make it an everyday jacket. Black tailored trousers and a fine knit make it office wear.

In the photos the model wears it buttoned over a black top, with matching shorts that barely show, so it reads almost as a short dress. With opaque tights and boots that is a look for an evening out. The shorts are not included.

Occasions

According to the supplier it covers everyday outfits, formal meetings and days at work. We would add dinners and drinks in the colder months, when a blazer in this material looks dressed without a coat over it indoors.

It is a three-season piece. For rain or real cold you will still want a coat on top, because the supplier makes no claim about wind or water.

Care: follow the label

The supplier calls the material easy to care for and gives no washing instructions, so please go by the label sewn into the blazer.

As a general rule for faux leather: wipe marks off with a damp cloth, keep it away from radiators and irons, and hang it on a wide hanger so the shoulder pads keep their shape.

The wow detail: the back

Turn around. Across the back, at waist height, the material is gathered into a band of fine elastic rows. From the front you see a tailored double-breasted blazer. From behind you see a jacket that nips in and then flares over the hips. It is the reason this blazer has a figure of its own on the hanger.
