A furniture lifter with 4 roller pads, 5 pieces in all

This furniture lifter set lets you roll a cupboard or a sofa across the room. You raise one corner with the steel lever, slide a roller pad underneath, and do the same at the other corners. After that the piece moves on its pads.

The set has 5 parts: 1 lever and 4 roller pads of about 10 x 8 cm. The pads are ABS plastic, and the supplier states a load of up to 150 kg in total. It comes in yellow, red or blue.

The piece: a lever and four small trolleys

The lever has a black ribbed grip at the top and a black roller at the heel. The foot slides under the edge of the furniture; push the handle down and the corner comes up. According to the supplier's photo the foot plate is about 5.8 cm high.

Each pad is a flat plate with a black gripping disc on top, where the furniture rests, and small black rollers underneath. We sell the set without a brand, because the supplier data names no maker.

Who it's for

For you if you want to clean behind the wardrobe, lay a new floor or turn the living room around, and there is nobody to help you carry. It is a tool for moving things across one level floor. It is not made for stairs or thresholds.

Closer look: the parts we can confirm

Two things about the photos. Three of them are collages that show two colour sets side by side; one order is one set in one colour. And the yellow lever has an angled plate as its foot, while the red and blue levers have a wedge-shaped block.

Materials and build: steel and ABS plastic

According to the supplier the lever is steel and the roller pads are ABS plastic. The supplier does not say what the black discs and the rollers are made of, so we don't either.

The supplier gives no weight for the set and no length for the lever.

Size and load: small pads, 150 kg in total

Each pad is about 10 x 8 cm; the supplier's photo prints it as 102 x 78 mm. That is about the size of a hand, so a pad sits under one corner at a time.

The supplier states a load of up to 150 kg in total, spread over the four pads. That figure comes from the supplier's text and we have not tested it. We would stay well under it, and empty a cupboard before moving it.

In use: straight lines, turned by hand

The pads roll straight. They do not swivel. To change direction you stop, turn each pad by hand and go on. So plan the route before you start: first away from the wall, then turn the pads, then along the wall.

The supplier says nothing about which floors the rollers suit. Try them on a small, hidden piece of floor first, and keep the rollers free of grit.

Occasions

Get it out for the big spring clean or when the painter needs the walls free. It is also useful on the weekend you decide the sofa belongs on the other side of the room after all.

Care and safety: slow and with clear fingers

The supplier gives no care instructions. As general practice: wipe the rollers clean after use and store the set dry.

A word on safety, from us. Keep your fingers away from the edge when you lower a piece onto a pad, move slowly, and ask a second person to steady anything tall that could tip.

The wow detail: the lever does the hard part

The hard part of moving a cupboard is getting something under it. The long handle turns a firm push of your hand into enough lift at the foot to raise a corner, and then a pad the size of your palm takes over.
