A classic dress with 3/4 sleeves and gold-tone zips

This dress with 3/4 sleeves by Numoco keeps a simple shape and lets three zips do the decorating. Two short gold-tone zips sit at an angle on the front, one at each hip, and a long one runs down the back. The skirt widens slightly, in what the maker calls a trapeze line.

It comes in beige, a taupe print, navy blue and green, in sizes S to XL. The supplier calls it a Polish product.

Numoco describes a classic dress with gold zippers, 3/4 sleeves and a trapeze skirt, in an elastic material that is pleasant to the touch. There are four model numbers, and they are not identical in fabric.

The plain beige dress, model 179043, is 95% polyester and 5% spandex. The other three are 70% viscose and 30% polyester: the navy blue, the green, and the version we sell as taupe, which the supplier describes as beige with a black pattern. In the photos that pattern is a small geometric print of linked rectangles on a taupe ground.

The supplier speaks of zippers and says nothing about pockets. The two front zips look like pocket zips, but we can't confirm that they open onto pockets.

Who it's for

For you if you want a dress for work that has one detail to make it yours. The cut is calm: round neck, covered arms, hem above the knee. The zips add a bit of shine.

It suits you if you like a dress that follows the body at the top and gives a little at the hip.

Fabric and feel: it depends on the colour

Beige is 95% polyester with 5% spandex. The taupe print, the navy blue and the green are 70% viscose with 30% polyester. The supplier describes the material of all four as elastic and pleasant to the touch.

In the photos the fabric is matte and has some body. It holds the slight flare of the skirt and does not cling. The supplier gives no fabric weight and does not mention a lining.

The maker's table gives a chest of 76 cm in S, 80 cm in M, 84 cm in L and 86 cm in XL, with waists of 66, 70, 74 and 76 cm and hips of 86, 90, 94 and 96 cm. The length is 89 cm in S and M, 90 cm in L and 91 cm in XL.

Those chest and waist figures are small for the sizes they belong to. The material is elastic, and the maker does not say whether the dress was measured lying relaxed. So do not read them as your body measurements. Lay a dress that fits you flat, measure it across the chest, double the number and compare.

Styling: pick up the gold

In the photos the model wears a watch and bracelets in a gold tone, a clutch and heeled sandals. Repeating the colour of the zips in your jewellery is an easy way to make the dress look considered.

For the office, add opaque tights and ankle boots or pumps. The navy blue and the green take a camel coat well. The beige one is the lightest of the four and looks fresh with white trainers at the weekend.

Occasions

This is a dress for the working week and for the events around it: a meeting, a lunch, a school evening, a birthday dinner. In navy blue or green it also works for a Christmas gathering.

Care: follow the label

The maker's data has no care instructions, so go by the label sewn into the dress. Because the beige is a different fabric from the other three, its label may differ.

With three zips on the dress, close them all before washing.

Most dresses hide the back zip. This one shows it. A gold-tone line runs from the neck down the centre of the back, in full view. On the navy blue and the green it stands out like a piece of jewellery, and it gives the dress a second face when you turn around.
