This mini dress with spaghetti straps by Moe keeps the top simple: a straight neckline and two thin straps. The interest sits lower down, where the front of the skirt crosses over and ends in a point.

It comes in pink and in black, in sizes S to XXL. The fabric is 95% polyester and 5% spandex, the dress closes with a zip at the back and it is unlined. Length runs from 73 cm in S to 79 cm in XXL.

The bodice is fitted and joins the skirt at a waist seam. The skirt is cut so that one panel lies diagonally across the other. It looks like a wrap skirt, but the dress closes at the back, so nothing can fall open.

The size range is wide, from S to XXL. The straps are thin, so think about what you wear underneath. A strapless bra is the obvious answer.

One note. The maker's text mentions a deep neckline. In every photo the neckline runs straight across, well above the bust, and that is how we describe it.

Fabric and feel: polyester with spandex, no lining

The dress is 95% polyester and 5% spandex. In the photos the fabric looks smooth and matte, with enough body to hold the sharp edge of the overlap. The spandex gives it some stretch.

It is unlined, the maker says so plainly. In practice that means one layer of fabric between you and the summer air, which is pleasant when it is hot. With the pink, we would wear skin-tone underwear to be safe.

Fit and silhouette: fitted on top, short

The table below is the maker's and applies to both colours. Size M measures 85 cm at the chest, 75 cm at the waist and 101 cm at the hips, with a length of 74.5 cm. From one size to the next the table adds 5 cm in width.

The hip numbers are generous next to the waist, which matches the photos: close at the bodice, a little easier over the hips. On the model the hem sits above the knee. If you are tall, measure 73 to 79 cm down from your shoulder to see where it lands on you.

Styling: sandals now, a blazer later

In the photos the pink dress is worn with nude heeled sandals and the black with bright green ones. Both are good ideas. Nude shoes make the pink look grown-up, and a shot of colour wakes up the black.

For a summer wedding, add a small clutch and gold-tone hoops. For drinks on a terrace, flat sandals and a jean jacket over your shoulders bring it down a notch. When the evenings cool off, an oversized blazer in white or beige works over the thin straps.

Occasions

One general habit for a dress with a zip: close the zip before washing, so the teeth don't catch on the fabric or on other clothes.

The wow detail: the point at the hem

Follow the edge of the overlap with your eye. It starts at the waist, runs diagonally across the skirt and ends in a point at the hem, where the two panels part a little. When the model walks, that small opening moves with her step. It is the only decoration on the dress and it doesn't need another.
