A cowl neck cami top with a hem that runs at an angle

This cowl neck cami top has two things going on. At the top the fabric falls in a soft drape; at the bottom the hem is cut at an angle and ends in a point on one side. In between it is a simple sleeveless top in chocolate brown.

The fabric is 95% polyester and 5% spandex, washable in the machine. It comes in S to XL.

The top is sold under the label Rhythmia. The supplier names one feature, asymmetrical, and rates the fabric as "no stretch". The origin is "imported"; no country is given.

We have three photos. They show wide straps instead of thin ones, a cowl that opens fairly low, and a gold-coloured ring that gathers one of the straps at the shoulder. The supplier does not mention that ring, so we describe it only as we see it.

Who it's for

For you if you want a going-out top that works with jeans. The drape gives the front some movement, and the wide straps cover a regular bra strap.

Brown is the colour here. If your wardrobe leans towards cream, beige and blue, it will slot in easily.

Fabric and feel: textured, with no stretch

The composition is 95% polyester and 5% spandex. The supplier still rates it "no stretch", so buy the size that fits your bust measurement and do not count on the fabric giving.

In the photos the surface has a fine crinkled texture, which keeps the brown from looking flat and helps the cowl hold its folds.

Fit and silhouette: close at the bust, loose at the hem

Size M is 62 cm long with a bust of 91.9 cm; size L is 63 cm long with a bust of 98 cm. The supplier gives the chart in inches; we converted it.

The supplier does not say where the length is measured on an angled hem. On the model the short side ends at the waistband and the point reaches the hip.

Styling: light jeans and gold-coloured jewellery

The photos show the top with loose, light blue jeans, layered necklaces and chunky bangles. The low cowl leaves room for a necklace or two, and the gold tone picks up the ring on the strap.

For work, wear it under a cream blazer. The cowl shows; the bare shoulders do not.

Occasions

Dinner, drinks on a terrace, a summer evening in town. It is a small top, so it suits warm days or a place under a jacket.

Care: cold wash, low dryer

The supplier's instructions: machine wash cold, tumble dry low. Because of the ring on the strap we would use a laundry bag; that part is our advice.

The wow detail: the ring on one shoulder

One strap is plain. The other is pulled through a gold-coloured ring, which gathers the fabric and pulls the cowl slightly to that side. It is the sort of detail that makes a cami look like jewellery came with it.
