This pleated chiffon dress by Numoco has three parts that do the work: a wrap neckline, long sleeves you can see through, and a skirt in fine pleats that ends around the knee. The maker produces it in Poland and sews the whole dress on a lining.

It is 98 cm long in the smaller sizes and 101 cm from size L up.

Numoco sells its dresses through a Polish fashion wholesaler, and this style exists in a long row of model numbers. One of the descriptions calls it Isabella. Every colour is its own model number, from 144196 to 208962, and we checked that the descriptions, the size tables and the photos all show the same dress.

Over time some colours have left the maker's list. Peach, black, mint, red and burgundy are no longer active at the supplier. Bottle green, cornflower blue, navy, beige, grey, light blue and powder pink are. The colour buttons on this page show what you can order today; if a colour cannot be selected, it is gone.

Who it's for

For you if you want a dress with sleeves that still feels light. The sleeves are sheer chiffon, so your arms are covered without the weight of a lined sleeve. The elastic waist and the wide pleated skirt make it easy on the hips.

The neckline is a real V. If you prefer it higher, a small press stud or a camisole underneath solves it.

The data does not say how the dress closes. With a wrap front and an elastic waist it may pull on over the head, but we cannot confirm that.

Fabric and feel: chiffon over a lining

The composition is 95% polyester and 5% spandex. Chiffon is a thin, slightly sheer weave. The supplier describes it as light and flowing, and says the dress is sewn on a lining, which is why the bodice and skirt are opaque in the photos while the sleeves show skin.

Pleats in polyester are usually heat-set and hold well, though the maker does not say how these are made.

Fit and silhouette: choose by the chest

The chest decides your size: 86 cm in S, 90 cm in M, 94 cm in L, 102 cm in XL and 106 cm in XXL. The waist figures look tiny, from 58 to 80 cm, because the waist is elastic and measured relaxed. The skirt is 140 cm around, so hips do not limit the fit.

Length is 98 cm up to size M and 101 cm from L. On the model that puts the hem at the knee.

Styling: metallic sandals or nude heels

In the photos the dress is worn with heeled sandals in silver, nude or clear, and with a small clutch. That keeps the attention on the pleats.

A thin belt over the elastic waist sharpens the line. In colder months, opaque tights and ankle boots make the darker colours work for the office, and a cropped jacket sits better than a long one because it leaves the pleats free.

Occasions

The supplier files it under formal and cocktail dresses and speaks of special occasions. It suits a wedding as a guest, a christening, a graduation or a dinner. The pastel colours lean towards spring and daytime events, the navy and bottle green towards evening.

Care: follow the label

The maker's data has no care instructions, so go by the label sewn into the dress. With pleats in general, hang the dress to dry and avoid pressing the skirt flat, or the folds lose their edge.

The wow detail: a skirt that opens like a fan

Several photos show the model holding the hem out to the side. The pleats open into a half circle and close again when she lets go. That is the pleasure of this dress: it hangs narrow and straight when you stand, and it has a lot of fabric to move when you walk or turn.
