WowStore reviews: how we check them

Before you buy from a shop you don't know, you read the reviews. We would too. So this page explains where the reviews on WowStore come from, what we check, and what we can't check.

Two kinds of reviews, kept apart

On a product page you can find two review blocks.

The first one holds reviews from WowStore buyers. A review with a "Verified buyer" badge belongs to a real WowStore order. We ask every buyer for a review, happy or not, and we publish the low ratings too.

The second one is called "Buyers of this same item at another shop". Many of our items are sold in other shops as well. People who bought the exact same item there left reviews, and those reach us through our supplier's product catalogue. We show them because they tell you how the item fits, how it feels and how it holds up.

We can't see the orders behind those reviews, so we never call them verified reviews. Each one shows its date and the buyer's country. Most are machine translated, and you can always open the original text.

What we check

  • A review has to be about the exact listing we buy from. A product that only looks similar doesn't count.
  • Every star counts in the score, the low ones too. One tap shows all the 1 to 3 star reviews.
  • Some ratings have no text, or only talk about the other shop's delivery. Their stars still count, and the block tells you how many there are.
  • When a review talks about the other shop's delivery or service, we cut that sentence and leave a note in its place. Our delivery is different, so it tells you nothing about us.
  • We leave a review out only if it has personal details or insults in it, says nothing about the item, or copies another review word for word. We note the reason, and its stars still count.
  • We take the names of other shops and suppliers out of the review text.
  • If the same text turns up on other products, or a pile of 5-star reviews arrives on one day, we hold that product's reviews back until someone has looked at them.
  • "What buyers mention" is a summary made with AI. The numbers come from counting the reviews themselves, and you can tap a topic to read them.
  • If an item's average drops below 3.5 stars, we take it off sale while we find out why.

How to spot fake reviews

Some shops fill their pages with reviews nobody wrote. These signs are worth a look on any site, ours included:

  • Lots of 5-star reviews posted on the same day.
  • Reviews that all sound alike and praise the product in big words, but say nothing about size, material or use.
  • No low ratings at all. Real products always get a few.
  • No dates, or no way to see where a review came from.

We check our own product pages for the same signs.

Is WowStore legit?

Fair question for any shop you haven't bought from before. You don't have to take our word for it. This is what you can check yourself:

  • We are registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 96545720.
  • Our address is Keurenplein 41, Box D2327, 1069 CD Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
  • You can withdraw from a purchase within 14 days of delivery. This is how.
  • Most orders reach you in 8 to 15 working days, because they ship from our international partner.

What we never do

We don't write reviews ourselves, we don't pay for reviews and we don't hide the bad ones. We also don't tell search engines that these reviews are our own ratings.
