Beauty Products Online Europe | Skincare, Makeup & Personal Care
A plain, useful guide for anyone shopping beauty products online anywhere in the EU.
Plan before you browse
Many people open a shop page and scroll until something catches their eye. This works once in a while, but usually you end up with things you never open, or half used bottles at the back of your bathroom cabinet.
Before you click any product, write down exactly three things you actually need right now. Not what you saw someone use. Not what is trending this week. What have you finished in the last month? What do you reach for every single morning? That is what you should be shopping for.
You can use the Virtual Closet to log what you already own, so you never accidentally buy a second identical lip colour or duplicate moisturiser. It takes two minutes to log a product, and it will stop you wasting money on duplicates.
Also note down the texture and finish you like. If you hate greasy feeling products on your skin, write that down. If you only wear matte lipstick, note that. Don't let pretty product photography talk you into something you already know you will not enjoy using.
Check what is actually shown on the product page
When you land on a product page, skip the first pretty photos first. Go straight to the details section. Where the maker gives it, the product page shows full ingredient lists, usage instructions, and how much product you get.
Never buy anything just from the first hero photo. Do not make a decision from a swatch on a model's arm. Skin tones and lighting vary wildly between screens and real life.
Read the shade description and look at every photo on the product page before you choose a shade. This will show you how the shade looks against your skin tone, under neutral lighting, before you order.
Always check how long the product will last once opened. Look for it on the pack. That little open jar symbol tells you how many months you can use it after first opening. This is not a suggestion. Write this date on the bottom of the product when you open it.
Shopping across EU borders
All orders shipped within the EU follow the same consumer rules, no matter which country the shop is based in. You have the same rights when you order from a shop in Poland as you do when you order from one in Portugal.
You will not pay extra customs charges for any order shipped between EU member states. You can check full delivery details on the Shipping page.
If you are not sure if an item will ship to your location, you can select your country at the top of any page before browsing. This will filter out anything that cannot be delivered to you. This saves you time falling in love with a product that will not reach your address.
Check the product page for what comes in the pack before you order.
Test one thing at a time
It is very tempting to place a big order with 7 new products all at once. Don't do this.
If you order 5 new skincare items and your skin feels different after a week, you will have no way to tell which product caused the change. You will end up throwing all of them away, and you will have learned nothing.
Order one new product at a time. Use it for at least two full weeks on its own, before you add anything else to your routine. This lets you properly notice how it works for you.
You can save items you are considering to your Virtual Closet to come back to later, and ask Lucy for a simpler routine.
Beauty is not one size fits all
Nobody has exactly the same skin, hair or daily routine as anyone else. What works well for your friend might do nothing at all for you.
Do not buy something just because you saw someone else use it. Do not buy something because it is popular. Buy things that fit your life. If you only have 3 minutes for your morning routine, do not buy a product that requires 12 steps and 20 minutes of waiting time. It will sit unused.
You can browse Skincare & Personal Care, Makeup and Bath & Body ranges sorted by routine length, so you only see items that fit the time you actually have available.
There is no correct routine. There is only the routine you will actually do, every single day.
When you receive your order
When your parcel arrives, open it the same day. Check that everything you ordered is inside, and that nothing is broken or leaking.
Test one small patch first, before you use any new product all over. Follow the test instructions written on the product label. If you have any reaction at all, stop using it immediately. Ask a pharmacist or doctor if unsure.
Personal care items such as beauty products cannot be returned, so if something arrives damaged or leaking, contact us straight away, as the return policy explains.
5% of each sale goes to a cause you choose.
How giving works when you shop with us
5% of each sale goes to a cause you choose. After your order you pick one of three causes: CARE International, Cool Earth or Project Zero. The donation is paid out through PayPal Giving Fund UK. Those three causes, together with how we run our own store (honest product data, fair prices), are matched to 11 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
That is the heart of the 1% Movement: small choices × millions of us = change. It is a giving promise we can show you, and it is the only promise we make on this page.
