Both wings are swept up, the talons reach forward, and a turquoise wave rises from the black base to meet it.

It stands about 41 cm high, 26 cm long and 10 cm deep. The wave under the bird is turquoise with darker shading.

The supplier gives the bird the name of a mythical creature. We describe what you see, and that is an eagle. Brass is an alloy of copper, so we call it a copper alloy. We have not tested the metal. The colours are paint: brown, white, turquoise and a gold colour. Nothing on this sculpture is gold.

The supplier does not say what the black base is made of and gives no weight. We would rather leave those two lines empty than fill them with a guess.

Size and dimensions: tall and narrow

The supplier gives about 41 cm in height, 26 cm in length and 10 cm in depth. These figures come from the supplier's text; they are not printed on a measurement photo, so treat them as approximate.

The shape is tall and narrow. It needs a shelf at least 10 cm deep and free space of more than 41 cm above it, because the wing tip is the highest point.

Styling: give it a plain background

The supplier photographed it against plain grey and plain white, and that is good advice. The outline of the wings reads clearly against a calm wall. Dark shelves and a row of books on one side frame it well.

Occasions

Give it for a promotion, a new office or a retirement. For yourself it is a piece for the spot in the study where your eye lands when you look up from the screen.

Care: dust, no water

The supplier gives no care instructions. As general practice for painted metal: dust it with a soft dry brush or cloth, which also reaches between the feathers, and keep water and cleaning products away from the paint. Lift it by the base, not by a wing.

The wow detail: the wave that carries the bird

Look at where the eagle touches the base. It doesn't. A turquoise wave rises to meet the lower wing and the tail, and the body hangs free above the black base. That is why the bird seems to be moving.

A home that gives back

5% of each sale goes to a cause you choose.
