The feet belong to a metal mount with lily flowers that climbs one side of the vase. The supplier's spec card gives the mount as brass.

The glass is clear and textured, with a flared, scalloped rim. The vase measures about 15 x 15 x 29 cm.

At a glance

Material

Glass with a brass mount (supplier spec card)

Size

About 15 x 15 x 29 cm

Glass

Clear, textured, with a flared scalloped rim

Mount

Lily flowers along the side; forms the four feet

Included

One vase. Its surface has a rippled texture that breaks the light, so the stems inside look slightly blurred. Around the base sits the mount. Its four feet are shaped like petals, and from one corner stems with lily flowers rise along the glass.

It is an ornate piece, and we like that it does not pretend otherwise. We sell it without a brand, because the supplier data names no maker.

Who it's for

For you if your home has room for ornament: a mantelpiece, a console table, a dining table that gets dressed up. The title on the supplier platform mentions copper instead. We follow the spec card. In the photos the mount is gold-coloured; there is no gold in it.

The same card calls the glass crystal glass. In the EU that word has a legal meaning tied to what the glass contains, and we have no proof on file, so we sell this vase as glass.

Size and dimensions: 29 cm high

The supplier's size photo gives a height of 29 cm and a footprint of 15 x 15 cm. Its spec card says 16.5 x 15 x 29 cm, so allow for a centimetre or two of difference in width.

The supplier does not give the diameter of the opening. In the photo with flowers the vase holds a loose bunch of long-stemmed poppies. Tall stems suit a vase of this height.

Styling: let one thing be ornate

The supplier shows the vase on a glossy dark table against a yellow wall, with orange poppies. A dark surface is a good idea, because it mirrors the feet.

Keep what stands around it plain. Flowers in a single colour look calmer in this vase than a mixed bouquet, and it holds its own when empty.

Occasions

It is a wedding or anniversary gift for a couple with a classic taste. At home, bring it out for a dinner where the table is laid with care, and leave it on the sideboard the rest of the year.

Care: by hand, and dry the mount

The supplier gives no care instructions. As general practice for glass with a metal mount, wash the inside by hand with lukewarm water and keep it out of the dishwasher. Dry the metal straight away with a soft cloth, and refresh the water often so no ring forms in the texture.

The wow detail: lilies that climb the glass

The mount does more than hold the vase up. The stems leave the base and climb the glass on one side, with open flowers at different heights. Put real flowers in it and you have two bouquets, one of them in metal.

A home that gives back

5% of each sale goes to a cause you choose.
