chunky-chain-necklace-for-cats-and-dogs
Chunky Chain Necklace for Dogs and Cats, Gold Tone or Rose Gold Tone

A chunky dog chain necklace, just for show

This is a dog chain necklace for dressing up, and it works for cats as well. The links are wide and shiny like a heavy gold chain, but the supplier makes them in plastic with a plated finish, so the look is big and the chain is not a heavy metal one.

It comes in gold tone or rose gold tone, in two lengths: 36 cm and 45 cm. It closes with a clasp. It is decoration, and you should never clip a lead to it.

At a glance

Material

Plastic (CCB) with a plated finish (supplier)

Colours

Gold tone or rose gold tone

Lengths

36 cm or 45 cm

Closure

Lobster-style clasp

Use

Decoration only; not for a lead, not a training chain

Brand

No brand

The piece: big links, small clasp

The chain is a thick curb link, the flat, twisted link you know from gold chains in music videos. It is for a birthday picture, a party or a costume, and for pets that don't mind something around their neck.

Closer look: what we can confirm

Plastic (CCB) with a plated finish (supplier)

Thick curb-link chain (supplier)

Lobster-style clasp (supplier)

Lengths 36 cm and 45 cm (supplier)

Short extension chain at the clasp (photos)

A decorative necklace, not a training or choke chain (supplier)

Material: plated plastic

The supplier lists CCB plastic with a plated finish. CCB is a plastic that is given a metallic coating, which is why the links shine like metal. It is gold in tone, not gold, and it is not a solid metal chain. The supplier gives no weight.

Size: measure the neck first

There are two lengths, 36 cm and 45 cm. Measure your pet's neck with a soft tape and choose a length that leaves room for two fingers between chain and neck. The 36 cm suits cats and small dogs; the 45 cm suits medium dogs. For a large dog with a thick neck, 45 cm will be too short.

How to use it

Put it on for the photo or the party, and take it off afterwards. Keep the normal collar with the ID tag on, and clip the lead to that collar or to a harness. Don't leave your pet alone with the chain on, and don't let it chew on the links.

The sunglasses and hats you may see in supplier pictures are props and are not included.

Occasions

A pet birthday, a Christmas card photo, carnival, or a gift for a friend whose dog has more followers than she does.

Care: wipe it dry

The supplier gives no care instructions. As general practice for plated plastic, wipe it with a soft dry cloth, keep it out of water and store it away from sharp objects, because a coating can scratch.

The wow detail: the look of a heavy chain

From across the room it looks like your cat borrowed a rapper's necklace. Because the links are plastic, your pet gets the look without a solid metal chain around its neck.

Fun that gives back

5% of each sale goes to a cause you choose.
